According to Proverbs 12:5, lovers of God are filled with noble and pure thoughts — their minds are aligned with heaven’s wisdom. This contrasts with the deceitful thinking of the wicked, whose thoughts are shaped by lies. The message reminds us that loving God reshapes not only our heart, but our mind. In Proverbs 13:25, Ps Thabo highlights that lovers of God are not marked by scarcity, but by sufficiency — they live in a place of contentment and provision, while the wicked live in constant craving and lack. Proverbs 15:28 teaches that lovers of God think before they speak — their words are measured, healing, and filled with grace. The careless, however, speak without thought and cause harm. Ps Thabo encouraged listeners to speak from a place of wisdom and love, not reaction or recklessness. Integrity is another mark of a God-lover. Proverbs 20:7 shows that their lives become a blessing not just to themselves, but to their children — modelling godliness that shapes future generations. When justice is done, lovers of God rejoice (Proverbs 21:15), because their hearts are aligned with righteousness, while the wicked are unsettled and afraid. Lovers of God are also givers and teachers — Proverbs 10:21 says they feed many with their words, offering spiritual nourishment through wisdom and truth. Ps Thabo also pointed to Psalm 34:17, reminding us that when lovers of God cry out to Him with sincere hearts, God hears and rescues them. Their prayers don’t fall on deaf ears; they are met with the compassion and power of a loving Father. And finally, Proverbs 9:9 reminds us that those who love God are teachable. They grow from correction, lean into instruction, and continually desire to become more like Him. The overarching message of the sermon is that being a lover of God is not a title — it’s a lifestyle. We are in the sermon series "The Small Influences the Big" Part 3 In “The Small Influences The Big – Part 2”, Ps Thabo reminds us of a powerful biblical principle: God often uses small things to bring about big influence. What we consider insignificant or too little, God sees as enough — especially when offered in faith and obedience. Influence, as defined in the message, is the capacity to affect the actions, behaviour, or opinions of others. It’s not passive — it requires us to put ourselves into intentional and vigorous action, trusting that God can work through what we offer, no matter how small it seems. The message draws on Zechariah 4:10, which says, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…” This verse encourages us not to look down on our small starts. God delights in the beginning stages of what He has called us to, even when we can't see the full picture. It’s not just the end that matters — God celebrates our obedience in the beginning. This theme is echoed powerfully in 1 Kings 17:8–16, where a widow, down to her last morsel of flour and oil, chooses to obey the prophet Elijah by baking him a small cake first. Despite her fear and lack, God honours her obedience. Her small act of faith resulted in ongoing provision — the flour and oil never ran out. The “morsel,” though tiny, became the miracle. The lesson here is clear: what we give, even in scarcity, can be used by God to bring overflow and blessing. The message also draws from Job 8:7, which reminds us, “Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.” This reflects God’s pattern — He often starts with the small to prepare us for greater things ahead. In Isaiah 60:22, God promises, “The smallest family will become a thousand people… At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” Growth, increase, and impact all come in God’s timing — we are called to remain faithful in the small and trust Him for the big. Finally, Ps Thabo references Acts 26:22, where Paul declares he is called to witness to both small and great. This reminds us that influence isn’t about who you are speaking to, but about being faithful with the message God has given you.
